DON’T SLEEP IN GEOGRAPHY
An important hint to the American youth – do not sleep in geography class!
Looks like I made a huge mistake. Somehow I must have been asleep in geography when the American continent was taught.
Because when I decided to move to the last free country on earth some years ago, I thought it is the Republic of the United States of America. But I think I’m not there.
A republic where the votes for the House of Representatives and for the Senate can be bought by interest
groups, such as unions, large companies and even financial institutions can’t be the United States.
A republic, where members of the congress, or even senators can make millions of dollars with shares (buying or selling) because of their knowledge of law decisions can’t be the United States.
A republic where members of congress receive millions of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry to block
laws which could reduce the revenue of those companies can’t be the United States of America.
A republic where the relationships between former employees of a failed company and leading members of the government lead to a bailout for this company and the liquidation of the competition can’t be the United States of America.
A republic where the leader of the drafting committee for a bill answers the requirement of the people to read the bills before the members of the House vote on by hiring a speed-reader, can’t be the United States of America.
And, for sure, it cannot be the United States of America, where members of the House of Representatives get paid by their Party leaders to vote for or against a bill.
It must be impossible that I’m in the United States of America when a Representative tells his constituencies that he voted against their overwhelming will because he thought that he knows better. It sounds like he represents himself in the House and not his thousands of voters whom he should represent with his vote.
That said, where am I??? It cannot be the United States of America, because her constitution does not allow such behavior of elected officials.
So it can be only a BANANA-REPUBLIC and I immigrated to the wrong country! What a mess you can create in your life when you sleep in GEOGRAPHY class.
