Subject: Are We Living in a Police State?
Dear Fellow Citizens,
I appeal to you to express outrage to your elected officials regarding the latest affronts to our freedoms by the White House. Based on my reading of history and my own family’s experiences, these latest White House initiatives resemble those used by totalitarian states. I am very familiar with these tactics since I immigrated to this great country of ours, have parents who survived the Hitler years in Germany, and have relatives who resisted Communism in East Germany.
I am personally outraged by the following:
•INTIMIDATION – The Democratic National Committee, in undoubtedly close collaboration with the White House, released a web video on Wednesday titled “Enough of the Mob” in which they refer to constituents in community forums as “mobs” and “right-wing extremists”. This labeling, at best, appears to be an attempt to intimidate average citizens from expressing their views. At worst, it could be an attempt to define and isolate the White House’s opposition for subsequent actions by either the government or its supporters. Hitler started his assault on Jews with labeling and disparaging propaganda!
•INFORMANTS – The White House Blog on Tuesday started a campaign in which it asks its citizens to become informants on other citizens who have opposing points-of-view by sending any leads to flag@whitehouse.gov.. Not only does this suggest government surveillance, but this information could also be adversely used by White House supporters who can obtain the information through the Freedom of Information Act.
•PROPAGANDA – The White House- sponsored video with Linda Douglas, posted on the White House website on Tuesday, is outright propaganda. It suggests that citizens cannot believe what they hear or see with the implication that only information from the government can be trusted. The video asserts that historical footage of the President stating that he wants to “eliminate” private healthcare coverage has been “doctored” and is not true. This assertion is patently false! If the White House wanted to prove their case, they could have released the “un-doctored” historical video and contrasted it with the “doctored” version. This, of course, is not possible since the latter does not exist.
•INDOCTRINATION & MOBILIZATION – The White House, through its surrogates, uses the BarackObama.com (http://www.barackobama.com) website to directly communicate with its constituent supporters via web postings and direct e-mails with calls for action. This direct constituent communication by the Executive Branch is unprecedented and may be unconstitutional, if it were challenged. This direct advocacy with constituents by the White House circumvents the rightful people’s representatives in Congress and is more indicative of a totalitarian state’s means of communications than that of a republic (which we are, according to the Constitution of the United States).
It is clear that the White House, along with many in the mainstream media, misunderstand what the current citizens’ movement represents. Simply stated, it is a people’s revolt against the incumbent political class who are bankrupting our great country. The people are reacting to the fact that the Federal Government: 1) is spending more money annually than it has income, 2) has a national debt that is close to five times its annual income, and 3) has spent all the money from the “Cookie Jar” intended for future financial needs such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. If it were a business, it would be bankrupt and executives would be arrested for spending company investments while pretending that they are safe in a “lock-box”, using Ponzi scheme methods to avoid detection.
The constituents with common sense recognize that, if left unchecked, the political class with its out-of-control spending, national debt, and unfunded liabilities will enslave our children, grandchildren, and future generations. They will do this by forcing them to become, in essence, servants to the state by virtue of having to pay most of their earnings to the government via taxes while experiencing a significantly lowered standard of living. This progression is concisely explained in Friedrich Hayak’s book, “The Road to Serfdom”, written in 1944.

What a complete load of cr@p. You sound as crazy as Glen Beck does. The only thing reminiscent of Nazism and the 1930’s are you Teabagging Brown Shirts, who are stifling democratic debate and starting riots, like what happened in Tampa tonight.

These phoney protests are as coordinated as the infamous Brooks Brothers Riots that shut down the election recount in 2000, with GOP staffer being bussed in to Florida to ‘protest’. Teab*****s are being bussed in to these town hall meetings, spurred on by Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh & right wing radio. Grass roots my ass.
Be warned: we are going to push back at you wingnuts. You shove us, we’ll shove back harder. Too bad for you that you are going to miss out on the fun, since there aren’t going to be any more meetings here for you to disrupt.
The funny thing is that Proctor & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, Lexus-Nexus and SC Johnstone have canceled advertising Glen Beck because of his hate filled rants. we are going to pressure more advertisers to drop Beck as well.

I called Senator Sherrod Brown’s office this morning (8/11/09) and asked if he was having a town hall meeting on health care and just this morning they said NO, but that I could make an appointment to come in and speak with one of his staff. I also sent an email to him on August 6th to which a generic email was returned also stating that “My schedule for August and September is already full, but I appreciate your interest in sharing your views like so many other Ohioans have.”
WELL, here is the site to “Organizing for America” confirming that Sherrod Brown is in fact having a town hall on health care TOMORROW!!!! At the OSU Biomedical Research Tower at 10am.

Police State? Oh Lord… just what we need: another Yay-Hoo with some kind of off-base agenda.
Let me inform you of something, mr. Pete Wolf. Spying on domestic citizens is not indicative of a police state. It’s called security. Infiltrating constitution-based political groups is called common sense – many of these suspects have guns and may even use them if their properties are legally searched without warrant under the Patriot Act.
What I don’t get is how some of you people think that we should all get a free pass on liberty. Liberty isn’t free. When I see ignoramus’s criticize things like random police checkpoints, my response is “good luck when that DUI a-hole comes at you in your lane”.
As for all of this other crap listed above, I thank God that Bush eliminated Posse Comitatus and Obama is now stationing seasoned troops throughout the country. When so-called “patriots” decide that they are more important than the government, we’ll have the security in place to crush them with military force.
Police State? Absolutely not. It’s called security. Part of remaining secure is making sure that our government isn’t threatened. When idiots start talking about rights while we’re in a crisis, they deserve to be arrested. It makes me suspiscious of peope who write this kind of material – what have you done that you’re trying to keep hidden?
That preceding was sarcasm, btw. Thanks for the article Pete – with our one-party system (one coin with two media-created faces) did anyone really expect Obama to turn around Bush’s mess? They’re both employed by global finance and they share the same policy goals – integration into a regional economic system as part of a single global economy.

DAN you are so right, what is wrong with a person who is concerned about his Constitutional Rights, Freedoms and Liberties being STRIP AWAY by the “illegally elected socialist tyrannt illegally appointed czars” who could not care a less whether it’s you are white, or black, or pink with purple poka dots whose Civil, Constitutional, and God given rights are destroyed in the name of “Progress”.

i am a 23 year old living in ohio kentucky an i dont even recognize the country i now live in i was raised to beleive there is no such thing as a free lunch boy o boy is that far from reality i want to be of some help in the project but am not reall sure what i can do i am a layed off maintenace/electrician who has nothing better i would like to do then to let our leaders know tis is more than just a grassroots movement it is a change a switch a shift back to the american people and away from big government someone please tell me show what it is i can do that would be constructive thank you much.
